The Legends Of Lake Nebagamon
George Searle Giffin fulfilled his earthly mission on March 20, 2023. In his seventy-eight years, he never lost the innocence that marked his childhood, complete with wonder, awe, magic, and imagination. He maintained his love of animals, children, and lights. As an adult, he devoted his time and energy to promoting peace and advocating civil rights.
Those closest to George knew that he loved fantasy and often slipped into “another world.” Instead of focusing on a conversation, George would drift, leaving family members and close friends to say, “Earth to George! Earth to George!”
The Legends of Lake Nebagamon explores why George Searle Giffin was never completely in this world. A delightful tribute to a beloved son, brother, father, and grandfather, and a fitting fantasy for young and old alike.
Always remember…
Wherever you go, there you are.
Reviews
Dear Readers:
I am excited to write about Pablo Zaragoza’s newest book, The Legends of Lake Nebagamon.” The story is about a family’s summer vacation in a cabin in Wisconsin. The main character, George, is six years old. He fishes and swims. He also sees people others don’t see. He watches mermaids who seek children swimming.
He can think “fire” and his hands create balls of fire. Imagination, mystery, and suspense stopped me from putting the book down. I give this book a five star review. The message learned is “wherever you go, there you are.” After reading the book I learned George was a real person in life who loved family, friends and animals. He died too soon. This book is a tribute to him. Next month, a celebration of his life takes place. Enjoy this book. I loved it.

I found Legends of Lake Nebagamon to be entertaining, informative, thought provoking, memory recalling, chuckles creating, and sentimental, with eyes filled with tears when Earth was calling George. Earth will always be calling George.

If asked to describe Legends of Lake Nebagamon, I would quickly – and seriously – call it “the most beautiful and sensitive eulogy I have ever read or heard.” —Keith Molin
Beautifully written, this wonderful “legends” book of a young boy searching for his truths. I love the details about summer, the lake, life in a small village, and the characters living in such a paradise. A joy to read and one that I will have a ball reading to my young grandson who lives in the magical forests of upstate New York. Congratulations and thank you! —Phil Giffin, Wyoming
I totally loved The Legends of Lake Nebagamon. I could see where George’s encounters with each character led to the George we knew and loved and to his understanding and patience with life and reasoning. The descriptions of the family members brought back memories and some favorite stories often repeated. I especially like the Sir George Searle Giffin name he was so proud of. – Carol Card, Michigan
